- Visitors - If you are coming to the United Kingdom as a visitor you are allowed to stay for up to six months, providing you meet a number of restrictions
- Students - Since 1 September 2007, all international students need a student entry clearance to enter the United Kingdom for the purpose of study, except those students on a course of study of six months or less who may qualify for leave under the new category of student visitors.
- Postgraduate Doctors/Dentists - If you come to the United Kingdom as a postgraduate doctor or dentist, you will be given permission to enter and stay in the United Kingdom for a maximum of 26 months.
